anyone take one apart yet or check for current draw to see what the problem is? I could use another lantern and always liked this one but I can't be bothered to remember to remove the batteries everytime.

Hoodoo,
I didn't say that it was your imagination. You should return both for a refund. Coleman has always provided me with great service. I'm going to explore this further as I have one of these lanterns and really like it.

They told me point blank that they would not take them back. I bought one directly from them and they pulled the transaction up on their computer. They told me to remove the batteries when I wasn't using it and that's that.

Which made me wonder what the purpose of the switch was.  laugh

Something is. Not my imagination. Coleman admitted to it on the phone when I talked to them. Their response: tough.

Hoodoo,
Why? Is the switch draining a slight amount of voltage from the cells even when off?

I bought two of these last December. They've been sitting on the shelf since. Turned one on today and no light. The other one was dead also. Put new batteries in and they worked. Called Coleman. Their response was that yes, they know about this but they did not make the lanterns. That's the way they came. They recommend removing the batteries when not in use.  rant
