I thought it would be lower but about $1400.00 Aussie dollars which is just over $1000.00 USD. This is torches, pocket knives and multitools. I've spent too much havenet I! I mean I'm not a colletor, I just liked the things I bought and thought they would come in handy.

this being one of my all time favorite threads, lets bump it up for the new guys.  Everybody throw some numbers out there.

I have recently added a Boker Zeta ceratitan (ceramic titanium composite) knife to my kit, thinking about keeping it in there for the "food" blade since we had that discussion in the knives area once.

My daily gear:

Surefire E1L left back pocket $90
Delica 3 PE FRN right back pocket $40
Atwood Mini-Prybaby on keychain $35
ARCP-AAA on keychain $40
Maxpedition bikini wallet $10
Atwood V-notch Booger in front pocket $70
Luminox dive watch $150
I don't count my crappy cell phone

Grand total - $435
Not as much as I thought it would be, but still quite a chunk of change! I do swap the Delica 3 out for a Mini Manix which costs a little more from time to time, but it's much heavier than the D3.

Hey Malcontent- Thanks so much for fixing the pic for me- I couldn't figure out the Windows XP thing  Bravo

I with 0dBm that the actual cost of EDC is higher due to items that didn't "make the cut." I'm sure we all have a box of perhaps partially EDC'd items that eventually got traded out for something "better." A keychain is a good example- I've swtiched a million items on and off of my keychain, but I still have all of them. Thankfully, this current incarnation *seems* like the best compromise for the time being. Eventually I'll probably get restless and start tinkering again wink.

The true cost of my EDC is not just the cost of the individual items.  I need to add all the time and other resources spent to finally decide what IS worthy to EDC.  This includes items that I tried and did not like, did not work, and did not last.  Also included is the research before the actual purchase, the garments chosen to carry them, the garmens that wore out as a direct result of the EDC items.

I additionally count the accessories to enable me to better carry my EDC items.  They include paracord, gate snaps, quick links, mini clips, leather pouches, etc.

I'm not exactly sure how to do this. You could instruct, or I could just delete it outright.

No, please don't delete. This thread will help you with the resizing.

Ok, I'll give this a shot based on my usual "out and about" EDC and rough prices I paid:

The keychain:
Arc AAA-P: $45, Titanium Key Tool: $25, Victorinox Signature II: $15. Keys: $2

The "Tool Pouch:"
the pouch itself was part of a $19.50 set (Frogman pouches from Duluth Trading Co.). I'll say $5 (since I could use something else need be).
JetBeam Jet-I: $45, Lighter: $1, Spyderco Salt-I: $30

Wallet (from Walmart): $5

MP3 pouch (case is a Case Logic camera case) $6, Sandisk Sansa M260 MP3 player: $160, Sony foldable headphones: $20

Not pictured: Skagen Titanium 105LTX watch: $80.

Total: $438.

Wow, I din't realize I'm carrying nearly half a grand's worth of stuff on a daily basis (not even counting the money in my wallet). Still, that's chump change compared to some of you guys wink.

Just got my Citizen for $270.  It is my most expensive watch to date.  A big step up from my last one.   Not quite a Rolex, but those are too rich for my blood.

I keep reading this thread and walking away from it... afraid to know... but here it goes, on a typical day:

- TNC Hot Shot pack $60 (?)
- Pila GL3 $90
- Axim x50 $400
- couple of USB drives $100
- Leatherman Micra $20
- Arc AAA $25 (althought it's a rare greenLED unit with black HA)
- custom CR2 by tvodrd-CPF (this one is priceless, for a lot of different reasons)

depending on what I'm doing I may have my Leatherman Wave ($70) and other lights (up to $300). So that's...
~$700-1000. Not bad for a "minimalist" EDC'er. :p

If I go out in the field, or am taking pis... don't wanna think about that.
That's not bad at all.  You should see the others that I have played this game with at other forums.  Because of the also EDC a Rolex or Omega, with thier latest handgun and a back up pistol, their budgets are way over $5000.  Our costs are much lower here because generally, our interests are actually lower in costs and we are more practical, but we have some members with some pretty high values.

That larrylight is priceless, but you better put at least a grand pricetag on it, to be honest about your 'monitary' EDC vaule Grin
My wife asked me once: "if you had to sell that light, how much would you ask for it..."
...and I couldn't answer. I still can't.

The light came to me under very special circumstances. It is a symbol of friendship and brotherhood, and I can't place a price on that. It'll be with me as long as I can take care of it. If I ever lose it, I'll be very, very sad, but at least I know that I used it almost every day since the day I received it, for this is a light to be used, not contemplated. If I ever had to sell it, it'd feel like I'm selling part of myself - not something I take lightly.

Here's a post on CPF describing my CR2 light.

It got it's first scratches the other day.

I haven't really posted in this forum much, although I've been enjoying it. This thread is particularly good.

When I thought about it my EDC adds up to quite a lot... here we go!

Tag Heuer (can't remember which one but 6000 series i think) ------> £850
Nokia N70 ------> £280
Arc-P ------> worked out at £28 to get it here
Orb Raw (which is on its way and paid for so i'm gonna count it) -----> £55
Colibri jet lighter -----> £20
Dockers Leather Wallet ------> £30
Leatherman Squirt S4 ------> £30
Swiss tech utilikey -----> £10
Swiss tech micro plus -----> £25
Ray bans (its sunny and light right now) -----> £80

I've only added up the prices of the ones I can think of, I have other stuff but I've had it for so long that I dunno how much its worth. Just the above is £1378. The exchange rate is £1:$1.8 roughly so converted just for the US guys is $2480! oh dear

For the last few weeks it's been,

(1) watch - TSAR on steel bracelet - $515 ($485 for the watch & bracelet & $30 for a couple of extra links to fit it)

(2) knife - BM630 Skirmish - $175

(3) flashlight- SPY005 - $378

(4) keychain - $6 carabiner, $15 tritium Glowring, $22 LM Micra, $3 no-name micro light

(5) wallet - Roots card wallet - free (swag from a travel convention my ex-wife attended, got a 2nd one for the same great price)

= $1114USD

All listed in US dollars, shipping costs included except for the carabiner, no-name light & the Micra, those prices are estimates as I bought them here in Canada.

When you add the customs duty & exchange rates it runs about $1365CDN at today's rate, a little less then I thought it would be.

For the most part, the stuff in my Maxpedition doesn't change too much or hasn't in the last while.  Over the last 6 to 8 months, the contents of the Maxpedition have settled down to things that I use the most, with the exception of the first aid kit and paracord, but it's for emergency anyway.  It changes a lot when I fly,though.

Folders that I carry on me do change  - less if I don't have cargoes that day, or if I'm trying new stuff Smiley  Interestingly enough, I do use most of folders at one time or another during a given week.

Hmm...a little under 3K.....Guess I should get my act together and "get in the game" Grin
