EDCF is a private forum created to provide a friendly, collaborative place for people from all over the world to contribute their knowledge and use of every day carry items. Our membership has grown rapidly, and we hope it's because people feel comfortable here. Every member agrees to Terms of Service when registering with EDCF. Members are expected to adhere to the following rules and standards of conduct when participating on the forum. From time to time, the rules may be updated and any updates announced. Members are expected to familiarize themselves with the most current rules. If you are a manufacturer or business, please read this section. 1. The Golden Rule – Treat others as you'd wish to be treated and with mutual respect. Do not call others "sheep" or other belittling or demeaning terms. Don't take threads off-topic. Baiting, trolling and flaming are not tolerated; repeat violators will be banned. 2. Language – Foul language and racist, sexist, political, criminal, bigoted, or hostile comments are unacceptable. Comments hostile to other people's religious beliefs or lack thereof are also unacceptable. If you wouldn't say it to your grandmother, mother, clergyman, or a kindergarten class, don’t say it here. This guideline also applies to acronyms and abbreviations, which, if spelled out completely, would contain the same questionable content. Links, graphics, photos, or any other media posted are subject to the same restrictions. Language and images may be edited at the discretion of EDCF staff. Members who persist in posting such content may be banned. 3. Private communications – The posting of any content from private communications between individuals — emails, private conversations, etc. — is prohibited. 4. Hotlinked images – Hotlinked images, where you directly link to an image owned and hosted on another server, causing the image to continuously display in your post, are prohibited. See Hotlinking Images and Why You Shouldn't for more information. For help using image-hosting sites, see tutorials in the FAQs +How To sub-forum. 5. ONLY ONE USER ID per person is allowed. If you have issues with your password or account validation, please use the EDCF password issues email. DO NOT create another account. When creating an email address to join EDCForums, DO NOT use EDCF, EDCForums or the like in the address. Potential members who do so will not be approved until they change the address. If you need a username change or other detail on your account changed please send a PC to one of the site staff. 6. Spamming and shilling are forbidden; spammers and shills will be banned immediately. Posts that appear to staff as spamming or shilling will be treated as such, no questions asked. 7. Illegal or criminal activities or discussions that encourage such are not allowed under any circumstances. This forum is about preparedness, safety, and the legal use of firearms, knives, and other tools/items lawfully carried by responsible citizens. Any promotion or advocating of violence or flaunting of law breaking is forbidden. 8. Weapons-related dual-purpose Items and their discussion on the forum – The proper forum location for discussion of a dual-purpose item, one that functions both as a tool and weapon (i.e., a pen designed specifically by the maker to also be a weapon), will be considered on a case-by-case basis when the primary use is not clearly defined. Blatant attempts in a discussion to obfuscate an item’s primary use as a weapon in an attempt to circumvent any applicable laws are prohibited. The true test of such an item will be "what is its primary function and intent for use?" The Staff will have final say in making the determination. 9. Unofficial Clubs/Guilds Within the Forum – No special clubs/guilds are allowed within this forum. The forum will remain a place where everyone feels welcome, regardless of his or her expertise or level of experience in the subject of EDC, or type or quantity of items owned. Numerous forums, manufacturer sponsored and public, which cover specific brands and even models of the equipment we all carry, already exist. 10. Buy/Sell/Trade – In order to view the Buy/Sell/Trade sub-forum, you must have a 15-post count or higher. Participation as a buyer/seller/trader requires strict adherence to specific rules for the B/S/T sub-forum. 11. Threads/posts of a marketing nature – Invitations to bid, sales promotions, offer of services, or feelers outside of B/S/T or The Marketplace, or on a member's profile page, are prohibited and will be edited or deleted by forum staff. Unless a member has an agreement with the forum owner, he/she cannot use the business name as a member name; cannot post any form of marketing, advertising or promotion; and cannot display links to their website or product(s). A member’s avatar cannot contain a business logo or depict product(s). Links to blogs that review products or that contain advertising, and any mention of Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or any other money-raising platform (i.e., online store affiliates) for ideas and products are prohibited. Feel free to post your review of a product in the forum, without links to other websites. PLEASE NOTE: All items reviewed on EDCF (by anyone not authorized by J.S. Burly's or its authorized suppliers/manufacturers) shall be privately owned or purchased. As a reminder, the FTC requires you to state where your reviewed items came from; if this rule is violated, you commit a federal offense. 12. Deal spotting, defined as mentioning a source or retailer from which to purchase an item and prices, or an external link to such information, is prohibited. 13. Giveaways and Contests – These events are a special part of what makes EDCF so fun. Our members have proved to be very generous when it comes to contests and giveaways, and we hope to have many of these for years to come. If you would like to sponsor or organize one of these events on EDCF, you must contact an admin to clear it first. Once it's been cleared, we'll do our best to promote it like mad. 14. PLEASE NOTE: The EDCF Staff reserve the right to make decisions deemed in the board's best interest. If you have questions or concerns about actions taken, address them through PC, not as a post on the open forum. Questioning Staff action in a post, rather than PC, could be considered grounds for termination of membership. All administrative decisions are final. 15. Link-blocker Any attempts to bypass the link blocker software will be edited, locked or removed at the discretion of site staff without warning or notification. As will any threads or posts about the link-blocker software or site staff enforcement of the forum rules. Repeat offences will be considered grounds for termination of membership. For more information please visit the Domain Not Approved - Linkblocker Software thread. **** Our goal is to keep this site family-, work-, and people-friendly. We appreciate your help in the accomplishment of this goal. Please see the FAQs + How To section for further guidelines and information. Again, welcome to EDCForums! Have a good time during your visits here! _________________________________________________ EDCF User Agreement You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, adult material, or otherwise in violation of any International or United States Federal law.
